Descripción

 

Este curso presenta los fundamentos básicos de las teorías de los estudios culturales y examina su aplicación al estudio de varias expresiones de la cultura de España y Latinoamérica. En particular, se enfoca en lecturas del espacio, del folclore y el nacionalismo, y en cuestiones de género, clase, raza, y orientación sexual en el estudio de la cultura impresa y visual del mundo hispánico.

Libro de texto: INDAGACIONES: Introducción a los estudios culturales hispanos. Autores: Mary Ann Dellinger, Ellen Mayock, and Beatriz Trigo.  Georgetown University Press, 2019.   

Tienen que comprar el libro directamente de la editorial, con el link de arriba. Yo proveeré los materiales de lectura las dos primeras semanas, hasta que lo compren.

 

 

Metas del curso y requisitos

 

Las clases, discusiones, y trabajos colaborativos para este curso se llevarán a cabo únicamente en español.  La participación activa en clase es esencial para el buen funcionamiento del curso (y es un 25% de la nota). Se espera que los estudiantes vengan ampliamente preparados y con todas las tareas asignadas hechas antes de venir a clase, para poder participar activamente. También, todas las tareas se dejarán en CANVAS.

 

EVALUACIÓN del curso

 

  • PROYECTOS COLABORATIVOS (2): Se harán 2 trabajos y/o proyectos de manera colaborativa en grupos de 3 estudiantes. Todos los miembros del grupo son responsables del mismo texto y recibirán la misma nota:

 

    • Proyecto colaborativo 1 (25%):
    • Proyecto colaborativo 2 (25%):  

 

  • Participación y trabajo en equipo en clase (25%): En clase los estudiantes trabajarán en tareas y en equipo. Cada tarea se entregará al final de la clase y contará para la nota de participación y trabajo en equipo en clase. (This grade is for participation in class, not for class attendance. Therefore, students only receive the daily points while they participate in the classroom. If you miss class, obviously you cannot receive the points for participation in the classroom)
  • TAREAS en CANVAS: 25%

Catalog Description:
Introduces students to elite, mass, and folk cultures of Latin America, Spain, and Latinos in the United States. Sample topics include transculturation, globalization, border culture, and relations between culture, democratization, and human rights. Prerequisite: either SPAN 301 or SPAN 314, or SPAN 302, SPAN 303, SPAN 310, SPAN 315, SPAN 316, or SPAN 330, any of which may be taken concurrently. Offered: Sp.
