Graduate Programs

Our fully-funded MA and PhD programs offer comprehensive academic and professional preparation for the study of Hispanic literature and culture. Students will learn methodological tools and theoretical frameworks to engage in original scholarly work while receiving extensive pedagogical training, as they will have the opportunity to teach undergraduate classes every quarter.

The department's internationally recognized faculty lead seminars encompassing the rich tradition in "la lengua de Cervantes," from the canonical texts of Medieval Spain to the works of contemporary Latin American authors. We encourage our graduates to explore different outlets for their research efforts, empowering them to make a significant contribution to their fields. Additionally, the department collaborates with the Instituto Cervantes and other cultural institutions that provide exciting opportunities.

Whether students are interested in pursuing research, teaching, or working in an international field, our department offers the intellectual tools, practical experience, and supportive community necessary to reach their goals.

If your primary interest is in language and linguistics, please visit the Linguistics Department website for information on admission to the Linguistics Graduate Program.
