Students who took Spanish or Portuguese in high school must take a Placement Test before being eligible to register for classes.
100-level Spanish Placement Test Score Ranges
0-15 points: | Eligible for 101 |
16-44 points: | Eligible for 102 |
10-44 points AND two years of high school Spanish: | Eligible for 110 |
45-69 points: | Eligible for 103 |
70+: | Eligible for 201* |
*Students with scores of 70+ are also eligible to take the 200-level Spanish placement exam. Students must schedule an appointment with the Office of Educational Assessment in order to take the 200-level exam. It is important to note that it can take about 2 weeks for the 200-level Spanish placement exams to be graded and posted to student records, and they are not graded during quarter breaks.

Portuguese Placement
