Donald Gilbert-Santamaria (PhD, UC Berkeley) is an Associate Professor of Spanish at the University of Washington. An early modernist by training with a background in comparative literature, his research centers on problems of subjectivity, historical periodization, and aesthetics. He has recently completed a manuscript entitled The Poetics of Friendship in Early Modern Spain.
