Join Olympia Lai and Dr. Víctor Fernández-Mallat on Thursday, June 2nd from 3:00pm-5:00pm to celebrate the vernissage of a temporary art installation, "Lost in Translation: A visual display of Seattle's linguistic landscape".

This unique collection of paintings showcases the presence of the Spanish language throughout the Seattle area, featuring real evidence of poorly translated or sociolinguistically significant signage in Seattle's public spaces.

ALL are welcome to come and view, meet the artist, discuss, and reflect on this intriguing presentation highlighting how the often ignored aspects of daily life demonstrate the thought-provoking complexities of Seattle’s linguistic makeup.

The installation will be on temporary display from June 2nd-June 10th, 2016.

*This project was developed by Olympia Lai and Dr. Víctor Fernández-Mallat within the framework of SPAN 498: “Spanish as Social Action” as part of a thesis for Spanish departmental honors.
