From the organization's website: "The premiere of Encuentro Mundial de Cine is an exciting innovation in presenting Latino Film. Uniting the world of Latino film-making with new audiences, communities, and countries throughout the world. Participants in the festival are Houston, Buenos Aires, Denver, New York City, Pisac (Peru), San Francisco, and Seattle. Each representative festival will present the best in Latino World Cinema, featuring films from producers throughout the United States, Europe, and Latin-America. We received entries from Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, France, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Serbia, Spain, France, Sweden, Switzerland, United States, and Venezuela. The purpose of the Encuentro coalition of film festivals is to facilitate access to outstanding Independent Latino filmmakers. Working as a coalition enables us to better connect with audiences and influential markets throughout the world. We are committed to sharing resources, and fully engaging new technologies of online connectivity. We are updating the format of Latino film festivals in ways that are at once community based and global."
